Design is a state of transition. While my practice operates on a global scale, the upcoming installation "Whispers of the Land" serves as a localised study of sensory dramaturgy. Presented as part of the Flavours of Plenty Festival (April 18, Te Puna Quarry Park), this installation explores the landscape not as a subject, but as a medium.
THE CURATION OF HISTORY
Architecture exists in the objects that hold our intentions. For months, I have curated a collection of antique blue and white porcelain, fragments of history found across the North Island. These vessels act as a deliberate contrast to the clinical, minimalist precision of the VECETO aesthetic. They represent a dialogue between heritage craftsmanship and contemporary spatial design and botanical abstraction.
THE GEOGRAPHY OF THE PLATE
In this activation, the table is no longer furniture; it is a canvas. Through our Artistry Table, we dissolve the boundary between creator and witness. By composing essences, creams, and sauces directly onto stainless steel, we explore a temporary topography of taste. Every line drawn is a mark on a transient map, a fleeting geography of the senses.
SENSORY LEADERSHIP AND THE UNKNOWN
We work with the radical geometry of the wilderness. Endemic botanicals are utilised as sensory anchors rather than mere ingredients. By employing smoke techniques to preserve the memory of smouldering wood and sculpting fragile, hand-baked structures, we address the senses far beyond sight.
There is power in what remains unspoken. At a specific point in the evening, we will withdraw the visual world entirely. In that void, texture becomes the only language left.
